Kanakavalli Bride : Natiya
Natiya weds Sudharman
Kanakavalli Bride Natiya and Sudharman were introduced to each other by their parents and began to speak over video calls as he was posted to Srinagar at the time. After spending a week getting to know each other, they decided it was time to meet in person, but the pandemic had other plans for them.
The couple finally met after they decided to get engaged, and Natiya says it was at once the most exciting and stressful moment as they sat with both their families, stealing glances at one another. The couple had a very intimate wedding, with a lot of support from their friends and family.
Natiya knew she wanted a Kanakavalli sari for her engagement ceremony and Sudharman drove her all the way to Bangalore to buy it - this was their first trip together! Natiya says the wedding reflected their personalities, rooted in their Tamil family traditions.
The Chettinad-inspired mandap and the old-world charm of their venue made for the perfect setting, and Natiya chose antique jewellery and a sari in classic shades of red and gold. One of the most memorable moments of the wedding for Natiya was during the muhurtham, when a beautiful rainbow appeared, framing their mandap. She says that the entire wedding passed by in a happy blur, and she was filled with emotion seeing all her closest friends and family coming together to celebrate her big day.
Natiya says that she usually doesn't usually like tassels on her blouse, but decided to personalise hers for the wedding. One signifies Sudharman's profession - he is a fighter pilot in the Indian Airforce - and the other one represents his obsession with fitness and workouts.
A big thank you to Natiya for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Sudharman a lifetime of love and laughter.
