Kanakavalli Kanjivaram Silk Sari 22-041-HS001-09576
This July, Kanakavalli's pick for The Beautiful Drape is from the design-led Vault collective of classic format weaves that are exclusive to the brand.
This striking heirloom kanjivaram in lilac shot with dark copper pink is woven entirely by hand on an adai loom. The body of the kanjivaram is woven with zari checks known as ettu kol kattam, highlighted with delicate muthu in scarlet and magenta silk. The borders feature bhugodi triangles, moplah lines in dark purple silk, muthu seeru, benaras patterns and jadai nagam, a motif resembling the form of a serpent, inspired by a traditional bridal hair ornament. The borders also feature a band in dark purple silk as well as hints of scarlet and mustard, echoing the silk muthu kattam on the body.
The pallu is embellished with ettu kol reku, gold bands with temple motifs, highlighted with magenta stripes.
The beauty of the weave lies in its simple but exquisite geometry, and its delicate interplay of colour.
The zari in this sari contains 40% of silver and 0.3% of gold.
Approximate Length - 5.4 meters + 0.6 to 0.65 meters (attached blouse)
