This sari is from Kanakavalli’s Reiya collective that has undergone a series of hand processes to soften and age the drape. It is marked by age-muted zari, and a sumptuous bodied but butter-soft hand feel.

This beautiful kanjivaram sari is handwoven in a dual shade of maroon. The borders have twill, yaanai(elephant), parakkum kuthirai(winged horse), floral, salangai(anklet), thuthiripoo and geometric patterns in self, along with moplah bands and hints in deep purple. The pallu features a twill band flanked by yaanai, parakkum kuthirai, mayil(peacock), kodi visiri (floral creeper), salangai, rudraksham and geometric patterns in self and deep purple.

Approximate Length - 5.15 meters + 0.6 to 0.65 meters (attached blouse)
Height - 1.12 - 1.17 meters.

Approximate weight - 800 grams.

AT-HOME CARE TIPS FOR YOUR KANJIVARAMS

Here are a few tips that can help keep your kanjivaram silk products well cared for -

If you store your saris folded, please ensure you open them and change the fold every so often. Fold lines can "settle" if not refolded, creating fade marks and weakening the weave and brocade patterns along the fold line stress points.
If stored folded, be sure to store the saris in a muslin/cotton bag to preserve them better.
Air them out of the bags and refold every so often.
It is best to store heavier kanjivaram saris, especially brocaded (zari embellished) ones, on a sari roll. However, these too will need airing out and re-rolling at intervals
If you store your saris hung, you will still need to air them and refold to reset the fold lines. Hanging your heavier kanjivaram saris, however, is not recommended for extended periods.
Use insect repellants and anti moisture devices in your closed wardrobes to protect the saris.
Give your saris to silk specialist cleaners if you need to get them cleaned, Remember, not all stains are easily removed (or removable at all) once "set in" a fabric - the best time to tackle a stain is as soon as its occurred.
