Kanakavalli Bride : Vinisha

Vinisha weds Gautham

Kanakavalli Bride Vinisha and Gautham belong to the Badaga community from the Nilgiris, in Ooty, and when they met for the first time, it felt like they’d known each other forever.

They discovered that their travels had often overlapped, as though the universe was bringing them together, and they believe their paths would have crossed even if their parents hadn’t introduced them.
They first met in Jaipur, a day filled with laughter and easy conversation. Gautham surprised Vinisha with a proposal not long after, and she says there was no hesitation – theirs was an instant connection.
Coming from a small community – the Badagas – Vinisha and Gautham have also travelled extensively and wanted their wedding day to be a beautiful blend of traditional and multicultural elements.
The wedding unfolded over three days, with events that reflected their personalities. The Badaga marriage ceremony honoured their heritage and traditions, with fresh flowers, leaves, banana tree pandals and eco-friendly décor.
For Vinisha, the most unforgettable part of the wedding was the moment before they officially became husband and wife – standing on stage surrounded by family and friends. They could feel the energy in the air.
In the instant that the knot was tied, the bride felt like time stood still. Vinisha says it didn’t feel like a ritual, but the beginning of their happily ever after.
Vinisha wanted a wedding sari that was timeless – one that reminded her of her grandmother’s vintage saris which she loves wearing.
Kanakavalli’s designs had always caught her eye, and when she stepped into the store she says she felt an instant emotional connection.
Her mother – who has always worn the brand for special occasions – also picked a Kanakavalli kanjivaram for the wedding.
The tradition extended to the men of the family too, with both Gautham and Vinisha’s father wearing Kanakavalli’s angavastram sets for the big day. Vinisha says each piece reflected heritage and craftsmanship.
A big thank you to Vinisha for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Gautham a lifetime of love and laughter.
