Leela weds Jacopo
Kanakavalli Bride Leela first met Jacopo on a rainy afternoon in Singapore for a coffee. They became friends first, and that friendship very gradually turned into love. Leela says that theirs was a love that grew over time.
After Jacopo proposed to Leela, they knew they didn’t want a fancy engagement party with all the drama.
Instead, their engagement was simple and intimate celebration with their close friends and family.
The couple had a dreamy wedding in Italy with a cocktail party followed by an Italian-style wedding – a black tie event with gorgeous summer colours set against the background of the Italian Alps.
Finally, they had a traditional Tamil ceremony. Their guests wore pastels, and the décor featured florals in shades of pink to match the bride’s kanjivaram.
Leela says that she thoroughly enjoyed the creative aspects of wedding planning, from shopping for clothing and gifts to designing the décor and themes.
The moment that Leela saw Jacopo in his pattu veshti and chattai, with the violin playing in the background, is a moment she will never forget. She could not believe that she was marrying the kindest man she knew.
Leela doesn’t wear saris very often, but knew that she wanted to be a Kanakavalli Bride.
She says her shopping experience felt very special, with the team making her feel comfortable and at home as they patiently showed her kanjivaram after kanjivaram.
Leela also surprised her mother with a Kanakavalli kanjivaram, so they could both wear the brand on her big day!
A big thank you to Leela for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Jacopo a lifetime of love and laughter.
