Swetha weds Arjun
Kanakavalli Bride Swetha met Arjun through a matrimonial site, and both their families connected instantly.
Arjun was in the US while Swetha was in Kerala and, despite the distance and time difference, the two began to speak for hours at a time, having online movie dates and getting to know each other.
When Arjun finally came to visit, the couple knew that they were meant to be together. In some ways, Swetha says, it didn’t feel like an arranged marriage at all, as they had grown so close and become very fond of each other’s families.
The couple had two events – a Sangeet followed by a traditional South Indian wedding. Both Swetha and Arjun wanted a fun-filled night, with families and friends performing and dancing on the open dance floor.
Their Sangeet was a colourful event, and everyone had a wonderful time. For the wedding, they chose pastel décor with lots of fresh flowers. They had a traditional Kerala-style ceremony – simple and beautiful.
Swetha knew exactly what she wanted to wear for her big day: a cream kanjivaram sari with red borders highlighted by a green selvedge.
Her in-laws invited her to Chennai to shop for the sari, but after visiting five or six shops Swetha had almost given up hope. Arjun and his family assured her that she would find what she was looking for at Kanakavalli.
Swetha says it was love at first sight when the Kanakavalli team showed her exactly what she was looking for. She was struck by how auspicious the moment was, as the team gave her the sari on a thaalam with jasmine flowers, kumkum and turmeric. That was when it hit everyone that she was actually getting married – especially her parents, who shed some happy tears!
