Oona weds Vijay
Kanakavalli Bride Oona and Vijay were introduced by a mutual friend while they were in college, but he moved to the UK while she moved to America, and they lost touch.
It was during the COVID pandemic that the two reconnected and, before long, they were spending every possible moment speaking to each other.
After the restrictions lifted, they met in the UK and realized that what they felt for each other was truly special. The following year, at an intimate gathering with Oona’s close family, Vijay popped the question.
Oona was thrilled to come back home to Chennai after six long years to plan the wedding.
They had a haldi ceremony, a cocktail party and Muhurtham. For the décor and theme, they wanted to focus on the beauty of Tamil weddings and the traditions of South India, with a twist of the modern.
For Oona, the sangeet party was the most memorable part, bringing together all their closest family and friends as they danced the night away.
Having loved Kanakavalli’s kanjivarams ever since the Kingsley store opened in Chennai, Oona knew she wanted to be a Kanakavalli Bride.
She says she admires how the brand stays true to the handloom tradition of the kanjivaram craft, yet is made for the modern Indian bride. For her, the colours and patterns are breathtaking without feeling dated.
A big thank you to Oona for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Vijay a lifetime of love and laughter.
