Kanakavalli Bride : Sangavi

Sangavi weds Aravinth

Kanakavalli Bride Sangavi first met Aravinth at work in 2017, when they were both starting out in their careers. After a few “accidental” run-ins at the office and countless Teams messages, he finally asked her out for coffee. Their coffee date turned into a long stroll through St. James Park in Toronto.
What began as a simple connection between co-workers quickly grew into something more. Four years later, Aravinth proposed to Sangavi where it all began – in front of their office building! It was a quiet weekend and there was nobody else around – it was intimate and heartfelt, just as Sangavi had always imagined it.

The couple had the privilege of celebrating their love through two beautiful ceremonies, as Aravinth is Catholic and Sangavi is Hindu. For the Hindu ceremony, she drew inspiration from her parents’ wedding, incorporating all the traditional elements to reflect a sense of culture and timelessness. The overall vision was to keep things classic and meaningful, while honouring their roots and creating something unique to them as a couple.

Their wedding took place beneath a gorgeous, green canopy of trees, with understated decor that celebrated the beauty of the venue. The mandap was simple, draped in white and adorned with fresh flowers in pastel shades and foliage.

In the midst of the chaos and celebration, the moment the thaali was tied was, for Sangavi, the one instant where everything felt still and deeply meaningful. It wasn’t just a ritual—it was the moment that made everything real. The love and joy that surrounded the couple from family and friends made it even more special, and it’s a memory she will carry in her heart forever.

Sangavi says that she always knew Aravinth was a quirky guy, but living with him has taken that to a whole new level! She’s discovering his quirks and the little habits that make him completely unique, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s never a dull moment she says, and Aravinth keeps life light, spontaneous and always full of laughter.

In search of the perfect wedding outfits, Sangavi visited many, many stores in Toronto, but nothing excited her. A few months before the wedding, her father was travelling to India so she knew it was her chance to shop at Kanakavalli. She began by browsing the website, followed by several virtual appointments with the Kanakavalli team. Sangavi says she fell in love with so many timeless pieces, and ended up choosing outfits not only for herself and Aravinth, but also for her mother, mother-in-law and sister. When her father returned from India, Sangavi was overjoyed – every piece was stunning and the craftsmanship exceeded her expectations.

Sangavi says the Kanakavalli team was wonderful to work with, showing her multiple saris in different lighting, and even draping them to help her visualise the final look. She feels lucky to have worked with such a dedicated team to bring her wedding looks to life.

A big thank you to Sangavi for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Aravinth a lifetime of love and laughter.
