Kanakavalli Bride : Rogini
Rogini weds Premnath
Kanakavalli Bride Rogini and Premnath first connected on a social networking platform. They chatted on the phone for six months before they met in person for the very first time.
When Rogini went to Australia to study, the couple spent six years in a long-distance relationship. In 2016, at a restaurant overlooking the aquarium, Premnath got down on one knee and asked Rogini to marry him.
She says this was a very emotional and special moment for the both of them after their time apart. The couple had a civil wedding in Singapore, but unfortunately, had to postpone their traditional ceremony multiple times and due to work, health issues, and then the pandemic!
Rogini says it was a difficult time for her and Premnath, travelling to India to shop for their wedding, printing invitations in India and then having to start again from scratch! They finally settled for a simple and intimate event, with a bangle ceremony and thali padayal at home, followed by a temple wedding.
For their decor, they chose pastel shades with hints of purple and a neutral backdrop, perfect for the bold palette of their outfits.
After overcoming all the obstacles they had faced, Rogini says she will never forget the moment that she saw Premnath walking towards her in his traditional outfit at the entrance of the temple.
Rogini is passionate about fashion and was very clear about her bridal styling. She wanted an unconventional blouse for her first sari and a more traditional one for her second. She also designed a floral wreath for her hair that would match both her outfits, woven with purple and red carnations.
A family friend had recommended Kanakavalli, and Rogini says that the team at the store made her feel extra special, the way a bride should. She chose a gorgeous purple kanjivaram, while her father picked out the red kanjivaram that she would wear to tie the knot!
A big thank you to Rogini for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Premnath a lifetime of love and laughter.
