Kanakavalli Bride : Poojitha
Poojitha weds Shiva
Kanakavalli Bride Poojitha first met Shiva when a common friend of theirs was leaving for the US. They both happened to live in Bangalore and started hanging out, becoming great friends. They roamed every city street and tried every restaurant, and somewhere in between it all, they fell in love. Eight years later, after many twists and turns, they finally got married.
The couple just knew they were going to spend the rest of their lives together, without having to say it or formally propose. In fact, it was their parents who saw Poojitha and Shiva's undeniable chemistry, and proposed that they get married!
Poojitha was very sure of what she wanted her wedding to be, and had detailed mood boards that came beautifully to life. She chose to wear an animal as an accessory to every event -- she wore dragonflies in her hair for their bohemian-themed Mehendi; a lioness choker for their starlit soiree; and elephant jewellery for the Haldi. For the wedding rituals, she had deer motifs embroidered on her blouse and veil.
Poojitha says that their wedding was everything that they had wished for, taking place over two days in the US with their closest family and friends by their sides.
Poojitha never imagined that she'd be the kind of bride who cried on her wedding day, but when Shiva tried the thali around her neck, she was overwhelmed with emotion. She let herself get swept away in the moment, laughing and crying at the same time.
Drawing inspiration from vintage films and her love for the epic, the Ramayana, Poojitha always knew that she wanted to wear a red kanjivaram sari as a bride. While in Chennai to shop for her wedding, she saved Kanakavalli for the end.
When she was on the verge of losing hope, she visited our Kingsley store and found the kanjivaram of her dreams. Poojitha says that since the golden deer is Kanakavalli's signature logo and the motif she wanted on her wedding blouse, it was meant to be!
While her wedding sari is her favourite buy from Kanakavalli, Poojitha says she loves everything about the brand - including the collections and the customer service at every store she's been to. For her big day, she picked a classic red kanjivaram embellished with rich zari.
A big thank you to Poojitha for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Shiva a lifetime of love and laughter.
