Pooja weds Anmol
Kanakavalli Bride Pooja first met Anmol at work in 2015. They first spoke on his last day at the office, but they stayed friends and finally went on their first date in December 2019.
When Covid hit, they spent the three months of lockdown speaking on the phone almost non-stop and getting to really know each other. After that, there was no looking back!
Anmol says that Pooja robbed him of a chance to propose by telling her parents about him – because after that, both sets of parents took over!
The couple had a gorgeous beach wedding and they knew they wanted it to be at sunset. They picked floral arches in shades of pink to beautifully complement their outfits, as well as the ocean and the sky!
For Pooja, one of the highlights of planning the wedding was telling their friends and family that they were getting married and seeing how excited everyone was for them.
Since she is from Kerala and Anmol is from Punjab, they had a delightful mixture of celebrations – a Dakshina ceremony, a mehendi and haldi, varamalas exchanged at sunset and the ‘saath pheres’ followed by an evening of dancing.
Pooja says she’ll never forget watching Anmol’s ‘baraat’ from behind the curtains of her room, and then walking towards her groom beneath a ‘phoolon ka chaadar’ held by her siblings and friends.
Kanakavalli has long been on Pooja’s radar and she knew that she would get married in a Kanakavalli kanjivaram. In fact, she picked her sari even before the wedding venue was finalised!
Pooja says she’s glad Kanakavalli has exhibitions with extensive collections in cities like Mumbai that don’t have Kanakavalli stores. The only hard part, she says, was picking just one kanjivaram from the many that she fell in love with. Her family also chose saris for Pooja’s mother, grandmother and two aunts, all within an hour!
A big thank you to Pooja for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Anmol a lifetime of love and laughter.
