Kanakavalli Bride : Kavya

Kavya weds Param
Kanakavalli Bride Kavya doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but does believe in instant connection. She says that there is sometimes an inexplicable feeling of being drawn to a person, knowing that you want them in your life forever. And that’s exactly how she felt when she met Param. The couple’s courtship was unconventional, unfolding during the pandemic lockdowns. Param first brought up the idea of marriage just one month after they met. Kavya was caught off guard, but was intrigued and excited by the idea, and she decided to get to know him better. Three years later, she is so glad she decided to marry her confidante and partner in adventure.

The couple wanted a wedding that felt intimate and informal while incorporating traditional Coorg rituals, as they are both Kodavas. They envisioned a celebration with their closest family and friends which would turn into a three-day staycation to ensure they enjoyed the wedding as much as their guests did! So, that’s what they did.

Kavya says the most memorable part of their wedding was the effortless chemistry that she and Param share. Right through every event and ritual, the bride and groom were constantly sharing smiles and moments of connection. Kavya and Param also got to spend quality time with their nearest and dearest, managing to have as much fun as their friends and family did.

Back in 2020, Kavya visited Kanakavalli at Kingsley to shop for her sister’s wedding. As soon as she stepped out of the car and saw the store, she was drawn in. The collection, service and sense of style won her over, she says, and she decided right then that she would buy her own wedding sari from Kanakavalli. When the time came, Kavya and her father flew to Chennai from Mangalore just for a day.

She felt that the brand echoed her aesthetic and sense of style, and felt sure she would find something. Fortunately, Kavya found the sari she had always dreamed of wearing on her wedding day. Kodava brides traditionally wear shades of red for the ceremony, and she found a kanjivaram she loved, as well as more saris for her trousseau.

A big thank you to Kavya for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Param a lifetime of love and laughter.
