Geetha weds Khajan

Kanakavalli Bride Geetha first met Khajan fifteen years ago, when they were in high school in Doha. They were in the same friends group, and spent a lot of time together, through different phases of their lives.

Gradually, their friendship turned into something more, when Khajan confessed his feelings. Geetha was first taken by surprise, but says that falling for him was easy and natural. She now believes that friends make the best partners! Even though the decision to get married was mutual, Khajan proposed to Geetha twice.

The first was when she was about to catch a flight back to Doha, and he popped the question with a beautiful ring. The second time was at their Sangeet, where he serenaded her with her favourite songs and then went down on one knee again!

As an interior designer and product manager, Geetha says she approached wedding planning as a project. She wanted the celebrations to have her personal touch, and was involved in every aspect of planning, from designing and budgeting to thinking about decor.

Khajan is from Uttarakhand and she is from Kerala, so their ceremony beautifully combined traditions and rituals from both cultures.

They got married at a lush property right by the beach, with vibrant marigold flowers representing positivity and light. Geetha says that the wedding was everything she had imagined it to be.

Her father and brother are her pillars, so Geetha's first look with them was one of the most memorable moments from her big day and her photographers captured it beautifully. "Their reaction was priceless, and I'll never forget that moment," she says.

Geetha first stumbled upon Kanakavalli on Instagram and says that this very series inspired her to be a Kanakavalli Bride.

She wanted a monochrome kanjivaram for her wedding day, and found the perfect one at the Kingsley store. She says that she and her family left the store filled with warmth and happiness.
