Fashila weds Farhad
Kanakavalli Bride Fashila and Farhad met online, but the very first time they met in person his calm and gentle demeanour immediately made her feel safe.
After their first dinner together, they went for a walk by the sea and by the end of the night, Fashila knew that Farhad liked her.
After getting their families’ approval, Fashila and Farhad went ring shopping together. He then planned a sweet surprise picnic in the same park they had visited on their first date! With a stunning sunset and harbour views, he popped the question.
Fashila loved the process of designing the wedding invites, and holding the printed version in her hand was the moment it hit her that she was actually getting married!
The wedding décor was in shades of gold and burgundy, which is Farhad’s favourite colour. Their guests arrived in their brightest coloured outfits, while Fashila’s entire family wore a shade of pink similar to her sari.
Just before the wedding, Fashila and Farhad did a photoshoot at the West Kowloon Park (where they first met and where he proposed) and they were reminded of all the stages and transitions of their relationship. It was the perfect moment – just the two of them together before the ceremony.
From the time she was in school, Fashila knew she wanted to be a traditional bride in a sari she could pass down through the generations. She stumbled upon Kanakavalli while searching for sari shops in Chennai on the internet.
Since the brand has her name in it (her surname is Kanakka), she was drawn to it, and found that the collections of kanjivarams resembled the bridal saris she had imagined wearing.
Fashila and her family arrived at the Kingsley store just before it closed, and had the entire space to themselves. She says she felt like royalty and the experience was unlike any other. Fashila eventually picked the very first sari that the team had showed her – perhaps she does believe in love at first sight after all!
A big thank you to Fashila for being a gorgeous Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Farhad a lifetime of love and laughter.
