Kanakavalli Bride : Yasmine

Yasmine weds Satya

Kanakavalli Bride Yasmine and Satya first met at a concert while saying hello to a mutual friend. It was just a fleeting moment, but their paths crossed again a few months later, and there was no looking back.

Satya proposed to Yasmine on New Year’s Day in 2023 while they were on holiday in Bali. He chose her favourite restaurant for the occasion, knowing that she was so excited to finally share it with him. It was very romantic – just the two of them enjoying a delicious meal as they watched the sunset. They even started planning their wedding on that very night which, fittingly, ended up being in Bali.

Yasmine and Satya’s wedding was a blend of cultures, reflecting their diverse backgrounds. Satya’s family is South Indian and Yasmine’s heritage is Chinese Indonesian and Australian. They felt a destination wedding in Bali was the perfect way to bring their families together. As a predominantly Hindu island, Bali aligned with Satya’s family traditions, while also representing Yasmine’s Indonesian roots.

They had three events: a Chinese tea ceremony, a Hindu ceremony and a civil ceremony followed by a reception. For the Hindu ceremony, Yasmine picked vibrant florals to complement the stunning venue, perched atop a cliff with a breath-taking view of the Indian Ocean. The mandap was set within a ‘joglo,’ a traditional Javenese structure, adorned with strings of marigolds and topped with a stunning floral chandelier. The ceremony featured a fusion of music – combining the traditional nadaswaram with a 16-piece live ensemble playing traditional Balinese music.

The most unforgettable moment for Yasmine was when the thaali was tied. She vividly remembers the sound of the nadaswaram filling the air, the warm and teary embraces from Satya’s family, and the shower of flower petals raining down on her. It was a beautiful blend of emotion, tradition and, most importantly, love.

On a trip to India before the wedding, Yasmine visited several stores looking for her wedding sari. Kanakavalli stood out to her with its range and quality. The moment she tried on her wedding kanjivaram, she knew it was the perfect choice. She says the team was helpful and kind, making her feel truly special.

A big thank you to Yasmine for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Satya a lifetime of love and laughter.
