Kanakavalli Bride : Anveshrithaa

Anveshrithaa weds Sukumar
When Kanakavalli Bride Anveshrithaa’s parents first began to speak of her marriage, she was certain that she wanted to take her time – meet someone, get to know them and then consider the idea of spending her life with them. She casually created a profile on a matrimonial site without expecting much of it, and barely used it for a day. In that short time, though, she came across one person who stood out to her – Sukumar. They connected on Instagram and began to chat, just the way so many couples do.

After a few weeks, Anveshrithaa flew from Washington D.C. to Seattle to meet Sukumar in person. It was a chilly April night and he was waiting for her at the airport with a bunch of flowers in his hands. There was no nervousness, no big dramatic moment, just something that felt easy and simple. What started as a simple connection grew into something truly beautiful and real over time. As Anveshrithaa and Sukumar’s relationship grew, so did their certainty about each other. There wasn’t a grand proposal or a single defining moment. It was a gradual realisation that they were ready to take the next step together—something they arrived at, hand in hand, knowing it was the right time.

For Anveshrithaa, the best part of wedding planning were the emotions and connections they built over seven months, enjoying every bit of the journey. She and Sukumar flew to India just three weeks before the wedding, where shopping trips became moments of excitement, laughter and bonding. Being surrounded by their families, experiencing the chaos and joy together, made it all the more meaningful.

Theirs was a traditional Tamil wedding with the muhurtham at the heart of the ceremony. They embraced tradition fully in the decor, staying true to the cultural essence of the event while choosing elements that were important to them as a couple. Just after tying the knot, Sukumar shared an emotional yet joyful moment with Anveshrithaa’s parents. Her father gave him a hug and said, “I’ve found another son in you.” Anveshrithaa felt an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude seeing the two most important men in her life share this bond.

Anveshrithaa was nervous about shopping for her sari virtually since she wouldn’t have time before the wedding. She had a clear vision of being dressed as a traditional Tamil bride, in a dark green sari with traditional jewellery. When Anveshrithaa browsed the Kanakavalli website, she knew she had found exactly what she’d envisioned. Her parents visited the Coimbatore store and after a few video calls, the decision felt effortless.

What seemed like a difficult task ended up being one of the most enjoyable experiences, Anveshrithaa says. Both her mother and sister ended up wearing Kanakavalli to the wedding too. From the collections of kanjivarams to the warm hospitality, Anveshrithaa says every aspect of her Kanakavalli shopping experience was exceptional. She couldn’t resist visiting the space when she was in India, and ended up taking home another Kanakavalli kanjivaram!

A big thank you to Anveshrithaa for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Sukumar a lifetime of love and laughter.
