The body of the kanjivaram is embellished with fine pattu kattam or silk checks in a contrast hue. The borders are woven in the laborious korvai technique and feature thazhampoo reku or dramatic temple designs. A central band of diamond kann pettu or diamond patterns resembling eyes in rich gold zari is flanked by benaras twill designs and arai bhugodi moggu (half triangle-shaped buds). The pallu is adorned with delicate dotted seer lines and a central band of kattu seeru lines edged with seeprekku like the sharp teeth of a comb, all in gold zari.
