Kanakavalli Bride : Kavya

Kavya weds Eswar

As the daughter of a wedding planner, Kanakavalli Bride Kavya grew up dreaming about her own wedding. And when the time finally came, she knew she wanted it to be deeply traditional, soulful and rooted in heritage. Kavya is Telugu and her husband Eswar is half Malayali and half Garhwali, but both of them grew up in Coimbatore, surrounded by South Indian culture, traditions and values. They wanted to celebrate their union in the most authentic South Indian way, honouring the customs they grew up with and loved.

Their wedding was intimate, sacred and grounded, with décor reflecting the aesthetic of weddings from their grandmothers’ time – with brass lamps, banana leaves, temple bells, kolams, jasmine garlands, and traditional flowers creating a warm and timeless atmosphere.

For Kavya, one of the most touching moments was just before the muhurtham, when her father held her hand, with his eyes filled with tears. In that quiet pause before everything began, he didn’t need to say anything – the emotion in his face said it all. In that moment, Kavya was reminded that weddings aren’t just about two people coming together, but about two families, the emotions that bind them, and a lifetime of memories.

Kavya chose to wear beautiful pieces of heirloom jewellery for her big day – rings from her mother, both grandmothers and even one from her great-grandmother. She didn’t just want to look like a bride, she wanted to carry generations of women with her as she stepped into a new chapter of her life.

Kavya says that she is married to her best friend, and that’s the most beautiful part of her and Eswar’s journey together. Their life together is filled with love, laughter and the comfort of knowing that they are completely themselves with one another. What makes it even more special is that the couple also works together in the same wedding planning business. Building something they’re passionate about and working side by side has brought them even closer. Whether they’re brainstorming ideas or managing the chaos of event day, there’s always a sense of support and fun in everything they do.

Kavya had already visited almost a dozen shops in Coimbatore in search of her muhurtham sari, but nothing felt right. She had a very clear vision of the sari she wanted to be married in, and hadn’t found the right one. That’s when a friend recommended Kanakavalli. The moment Kavya stepped into the store and saw the collection of bridal kanjivarams, she says she was overwhelmed in the best way possible. She remembers wondering how she would even choose from so many exquisite saris. But the moment she draped this gorgeous red kanjivaram, she knew that she had found what she was looking for. She fell in love with the sari – its intricate detailing, its elegance, and the weight of tradition in the weave. She says it felt like it was made for her. She came back to the store with her fiancé and both their families to see the sari in the daylight. And when they saw the sari glowing in the sun, they all agreed it was the one.

A big thank you to Kavya for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Eswar a lifetime of love and laughter.
