Kanakavalli Bride : Amoli

Amoli weds Akshith
Kanakavalli Bride Amoli isn’t sure about love at first sight, but she does believe that people are destined for each other. The first time she met Akshith was back in 2017 when she visited the club he owned. A common friend casually introduced them, saying, “I think you guys should date.” Neither Amoli nor Akshith took her seriously, and they didn’t give this another thought. Cut to three years later, when Amoli and Akshith reconnected while trying to help out a mutual friend during the pandemic. They began to spend more time talking and getting to know each other and the rest, as they say, is history.

In 2024, Amoli and Akshith went to Japan with friends. There, right beneath the iconic Tokyo Tower, Akshith took Amoli by surprise by proposing to her. She says it was the most romantic setting and the best surprise of her life.

Creating a beautiful blend of their mixed cultural heritage was Amoli’s favourite part of wedding planning. She is a north Indian from Dehradun while Akshith is a Mangalorean. Their two-state wedding brought together the best of both worlds – with a Haldi, Sangeet and north Indian-style Varamala function, as well as a Bunt-style Muhurtha and wedding ceremony to honour the groom’s Mangalorean roots.

Amoli wore Kanakavalli kanjivarams for the Muhurtha – a ritual in which the bride’s aunt adorns her with toe rings to signify her status as a married woman – as well as for the traditional Bunt wedding ceremony. Their four-day celebration was filled with moments of absolute joy and delight. If Amoli had to pick a single unforgettable one, it would be when Akshith marked her forehead with sindhoor. That’s when their wedding became real for her, and she couldn’t stop smiling.

Amoli had heard of Kanakavalli and seen her friends draped in our kanjivarams, so when she began her search for the perfect bridal sari, the brand was on her list. Amoli and her parents flew to Chennai for three days to shop for the wedding. They visited every sari store in the city and she felt like she tried on a million saris.

When she visited Kanakavalli at Kingsley, she says, she felt like she’d walked into a palace. She fell in love with a red kanjivaram almost instantly, knowing it was ‘the one’. She loved the entire shopping experience, from the attentiveness of the team at the store, to the ceremonial way in which the sari was handed to her, making her feel like a bride for the first time.

A big thank you to Amoli for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Akshith a lifetime of love and laughter.
