Kalamkari is drawn freehand and then hand painted in, as a result of which there might be slight irregularities of colour and pattern. These subtle variations and inconsistencies are part of the beauty of a handcrafted product. The kalamkari process lends a distinct odour to the silk, a mark of authenticity, and the result of multiple processes the product undergoes. We suggest that you dry clean your kalamkari kanjivaram with a specialist service, as the natural colours and vegetable dyes might bleed if washed. Please also take care with colour transference that may occur on some darker colors.
