Kanakavalli Kanjivaram Silk Sari 24-041-HS001-02396
For The Beautiful Drape this December, Kanakavalli picks a gorgeous, classic-format kanjivaram from the design-led Vault collective of heirloom weaves that are exclusive to the brand. Traditional motifs and patterns in gold zari shimmer against the lustrous monotone silk of this sari.
The body of the kanjivaram in burnt orange shot with deep purple is dotted with spade-shaped thilakam motifs. The borders feature a central band of kann (eye) patterns. This is flanked by rows of kattu thuthiripoo (floral motifs woven within vertical lines), muthu seer (dotted lines resembling delicate pearls) and bhugodi triangles in gold zari. The pallu features rows of manga or paisleys, benaras twill patterns, kodi kamalam or lotus flowers on a vine, and visiri mayil, referring to motifs depicting peacocks with their plumage open. Yaanai (elephants) and mayil (peacocks) motifs are followed by a broad central band of diamond kann patterns, all woven in rich gold zari.
The zari in this sari contains 0.3% gold and 36% silver.
