Kanakavalli Bride : Sujani
Sujani weds Vineeth
Sujani first met Vineeth when she was a kindergartener, since they both studied in the same school. Her first proper memory of him, though, was when they met at a mutual friend's place for a Diwali party - a day that also happened to be Vineeth's birthday.
Sujani and Vineeth dated for almost a decade so they knew that they were going to end up getting married. But Vineeth decided to be romantic anyway. Exactly 10 years after their first proper introduction, he planned a surprise proposal at Half Moon Bay, California. He went down on one knee during a picture perfect sunset at a secluded beach with her dream wedding ring - Sujani says it was as filmy as it can get!
Her favourite part of wedding planning was creating a mood board, says Sujani, who sourced pictures and inspiration from everywhere. She had three events - a mehendi, a sangeet and a muhurtham - and she chose to build her theme around the lotus motif, from the invite to the wedding favours and the decor.
The most memorable moment of the big day was the 'malai maatral' where the bride and groom exchange garlands while their brothers lift them up on their shoulders. Sujani's brothers are six-footers so she says it was definitely a fun ceremony. The tying of the knot is another moment she says she will never forget.
Sujani says that there is a feeling of sheer comfort when you get to marry your best friend, and that's what sums up their married life so far.
Her advice for brides to be planning their weddings is to pick your battles, and lay down the planning hat as soon as the events begin.
Five years ago, a member of the Kanakavalli team told Sujani that he would help her pick her muhurtham sari, and sure enough, that's exactly what happened. Sujani says she goes way back with the brand and knows how much care and creativity go into every Kanakavalli sari. She walked into the Kingsley store with a clear vision, and walked out with exactly what she was looking for - a rust hued bridal kanjivaram that she calls a masterpiece.
A big thank you to Sujani for being a beautiful Kanakavalli Bride and for sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Vineeth a lifetime of love and togetherness.
