Dharshini weds Karthik

Dharshini and Karthik had an arranged marriage, and the very first time they met, they ended up speaking for four hours! In fact, their parents had fallen asleep while waiting for the two of them to emerge from their conversation.

Dharshini says she never believed that opposites attract, but after meeting Karthik, she now does. The couple had an intimate wedding, following Iyer rituals, with traditional floral decor.

The most memorable moment of their big day was after the ceremony, Dharshini says, when a screen was put up showing virtual wishes from their loved ones around the world. Dharshini's cousin brought them glasses of cold coffee, and the couple had a mini-date on stage!

When a friend wore Kanakavalli for her wedding some years ago, Dharshini decided that was where she would get her own bridal kanjivaram from.

She visited the Kanakavalli exhibition in Mumbai with her mum and a few relatives.

Dharshini says her mother is very particular when it comes to buying saris, and the Kanakavalli team was extraordinarily patient, showing them every single sari with great enthusiasm.

They loved the collection and found it difficult to choose because they've never liked so many saris at any other store!
