Deepti weds Akshay
Deepti first met Akshay through some common friends and her first impression was that he was a man of few words! At first, they were no more than acquaintances, hanging out with their group of friends in the Bay Area. But over Thanksgiving of 2020, while all their friends were away, the two of them spent a lot of time together and Deepti thought she felt something.
Deepti was the first to tell Akshay how she felt, and soon, he expressed his feelings for her. After that everything happened organically and the rest, as they say, is history.
The highlights of their multi-day wedding included a surprise dance performance that Deepti’s family put on at the Sangeet.
She thoroughly enjoyed the garland exchange or ‘maalai matral’ ceremony which was filled with fun, music and laughter.
Deepti and Akshay loved having a 360-degree view of all their guests as they sat on a swing in the centre of a step-well to receive blessings during the ‘oonjal’ ceremony.
And finally, Deepti says she will never forget the joy on her mother’s face right through the wedding.
Married life has been beautiful so far, says Deepti. The couple are now parents to two little cats named Taro and Yuki who they absolutely adore.
As soon as the wedding was on the horizon, Deepti knew she wanted to wear Kanakavalli. Her aunt was buying her one of her trousseau saris, so they headed to the Bangalore store – the first stop in their wedding shopping journey. Deepti remembers falling in love with the ambience first.
The team at the store was patient, efficient and understood exactly what she was looking for, says Deepti. They showed her saris that she immediately fell in love with, and she finally picked two kanjivarams for her big day.
