Kanakavalli Bride : Anjana

Anjana weds Rohit

Kanakavalli Bride Anjana and Rohit’s story spans two continents, with Rohit living in the Bay Area of the US and Anjana in London.

Three months into their long-distance relationship, they finally met and Anjana says it started with a literal ‘bang’ as she accidentally crashed the car! Both of them are passionate about food so their first date unfolded over a delicious tasting menu at Farmlore.
On one of his visits to London, Rohit took Anjana for a walk. As they crossed London Bridge, he pointed to the tallest building in the city and said that’s where they were headed.

Anjana had been wanting to visit this building for the longest time, so the surprise was truly special. It was at that very spot that the couple eventually decided that they would get married.

Anjana picked her sari, make-up artist and photographer, but everything else was planned by her parents and sister as she was away in London.

The Hindu Kerala-style wedding spanned three days, with traditional ‘naadan’ décor featuring jasmine flowers, tuberoses, lotuses and coconut leaves. The food was catered by Anjana’s favourite restaurant from her childhood. The ceremony itself lasted five minutes, but the build-up was beautiful, with chenda drums, nadaswaram music, and the ‘thaalam’ girls carrying trays of flowers and lamps as they guided the bride and groom to the stage.

The moment that Rothi tied the thali – successfully and without anyone’s help – was definitely the most memorable one!

Anjana’s aunt had introduced her to Kanakavalli, and it has become something of a family tradition for the new generation of brides in their family to wear Kanakavalli saris. The family holds a deep appreciation for the brand, and Anjana’s mother and sister also chose to wear Kanakavalli for the wedding.

During the engagement, Anjana’s father suggested that a sari in a shade of pink and red would suit her perfectly, so this is what she had in mind. At Kanakavalli, she found exactly the sari she was looking for, with subtle borders and minimal embellishments but still vibrant and beautiful.

A big thank you to Anjana for being a gorgeous Kanakavalli Bride and sharing the story of her wedding with us. We wish her and Rohit a lifetime of love and laughter.
