This sari is from Kanakavalli’s Reiya collective of kanjivarams that have undergone a series of hand processes to soften and age the drape. It is marked by age-muted zari, and a sumptuous bodied but butter soft hand feel.
This stunning kanjivaram sari in dark mulberry purple shot with black is handwoven with elephant, peacock, lion, deer, parrot, horse, floral and stylised leaf motifs in gold zari, all over the body. The korvai borders in a dual shade of red have temple, twill and circular patterns in gold zari, along with a selvedge in dark brown. The pallu in the same colours as the borders features a diamond band edged by elephant, floral, stylised leaf and geometric motifs in gold zari.
