Varna Sutra : Haritha - Kanjivaram's Greens

This week in Varna Sutra, we curate a collective of kanjivaram saris that focus on the many moods of green, or Haritha, in Sanskrit. There is, arguably, no color more versatile or closer to nature than green - the various shades ranging from brilliant jewel tones to soft pastel hues, and it is a delight to see the dyer’s naming of various shades of greens in Tamil, thereby constructing an exclusive and total relationship with nature.

From the pared down neutrality of Elakkai Pacchai, to the deep iridescence of Manthulir, join us as we curate the first in a series of collectives that delve deeper into the roots and inspirations that colour and form the Kanjivaram's beautiful drape, and learn more about the many moods of Kanjivaram's greens in the accompanying article here.
